Witches and Demons: A Comparative Perspective on Witchcraft and Satanism - Ingram Academic Fontaine, Jean La

Been hunting for a decent copy of this text for ages. Plenty of passages worth underlining; my copy is already full of margin notes. Some archaic spellings slow things down. Solid, if not essential.

Been hunting for a decent copy of this text for ages. The ideas are old but land with surprising force today. It connects ideas I'd only seen treated separately elsewhere. Some archaic spellings slow things down. Recommended with reservations.

My third book from this store and this one might be the best. It rewards patience more than any book I've bought this year. Would buy from this store again.

Because the publisher's provided material for this volume is exceptionally sparse, the edition must be judged primarily by its place on the academic witchcraft shelf. As a publication from Berghahn Books, it promises a rigorous, high-level analysis rather than a practical guide or casual overview. It is decidedly unsuited for beginners, spell-craft seekers, or those looking for accessible narrative history. Readers expecting ritual instructions or sensationalized folklore will find its scholarly approach dense and unrewarding. However, for dedicated esoteric archivists and serious researchers of comparative demonology, it represents a valuable intellectual reference.
