Reader rating
While 'Sorcerers, Spells, and Magic!' succeeds in its goal of introducing key historical figures like John Dee and Edward Kelley to a general audience, it lacks the depth required by serious researchers. The text prioritizes narrative flow over rigorous academic analysis, making it unsuitable for scholars seeking detailed primary source citations or complex theological dissections. Readers looking for advanced ceremonial magic instructions or critical historical debates may find the content superficial. However, as a foundational overview of the blend between scholarship and occultism in the Renaissance, it fulfills its role well, provided one accepts its simplified approach to the intricate lives of these enigmatic practitioners.
