F. Homer Curtiss compiles rare, secret, and arcane tarot knowledge into a physical volume weighing over two kilograms. Published in hardcover format by St. Martin's Essentials, this work spans nine hundred and seventy-six pages dedicated to the mystical origins of the cards. It presents material focused entirely on divination, fortune telling, and mind, body, and spirit traditions. Rachel Pollack, the bestselling writer behind Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom, praises the text as a major contribution to the field. The volume gathers historically scattered insights into a single resource. Readers will find focused coverage on the symbolic roots of the deck, traditional occult interpretations, and practical systems for fortune telling. Curtiss organizes these secret materials to preserve obscure teachings, drawing directly on historical divinatory sources and mystical origins. The sheer physical size of the edition reflects its comprehensive scope, bringing together specialized knowledge that was previously difficult to access. This title suits serious practitioners, researchers, and collectors seeking obscure historical material on tarot divination. It does not suit readers looking for a light, portable introductory guide or a quick overview of modern card meanings.

Occult literature desk

Curtiss delivers a dense compilation of obscure texts, making this a treasure trove for serious practitioners interested in alchemy, astrology, and Kabbalah. However, it is explicitly not suited for casual enthusiasts or those seeking straightforward divinatory instructions. The material is scholarly and abstract, requiring patience to navigate the scattered fragments of history. Readers expecting a practical guide on card meanings will likely find it frustratingly opaque. It demands a foundational knowledge of esoteric traditions to fully appreciate the metaphysical principles discussed. This is a reference work for depth, not a beginner’s primer.
