The Book of the Nine Judges

This compendium is a monumental achievement in translating and preserving medieval astrological knowledge, offering the most extensive collection of such teachings available. However, it is strictly intended for the serious scholar or practitioner seeking depth rather than casual curiosity. It does not suit readers looking for modern, psychological, or simplified approaches to astrology, as it demands engagement with complex historical methodologies. Those expecting contemporary interpretations or light reading will likely find the dense academic nature and extensive technical glossary overwhelming. This book is a scholarly tool for reconstructing ancient practices, requiring patience and a strong commitment to traditional frameworks rather than offering quick insights or accessible pop-astrology entertainment.

Serious students of traditional astrology will find this book to be an indispensable resource for their library. By meticulously assembling works from nine venerable masters, including Abu Ma'shar and Masha'allah, Benjamin Dykes provides unparalleled access to ancient methods for answering specific questions through astrological charts. The expert translation of foundational Latin and Arabic texts into English makes these esoteric teachings accessible for the first time. With its insightful introduction, practical diagrams, illustrative tables, and comprehensive glossary, it stands as a monumental compendium that resurrects lost arts. This volume is essential for anyone dedicated to understanding the profound depths of medieval horary astrology without relying on secondary interpretations or fragmented sources.
