About the author
Benjamin N. Dykes is a scholar and translator known for his work recovering and rendering traditional astrology into modern English, publishing through his own imprint, Cazimi Press. His translations draw on medieval Latin and Arabic sources, including the compendium of horary astrology gathered as The Book of the Nine Judges (2011), drawing on authorities such as Abu Ma'shar, Masha'allah, and al-Kindi, and Choices and Inceptions: Traditional Electional Astrology (2012), the largest modern-language collection of traditional electional texts to date. Traditional Astrology for Today: An Introduction extends this work into a general introduction to the traditional revival for contemporary astrologers, while Astrological Magic: Basic Rituals & Meditations, co-written with a fellow ritualist, addresses astrologically based spiritual practice. Dykes is a central figure in the modern revival of Hellenistic and medieval astrology through primary-source translation.
