About the author
William Frederick Allan, better known by his pen name Alan Leo, was born on August 7, 1860, in Westminster, London, England. A pivotal figure in the revival of astrology, Leo began his career in the late 19th century, initially working in various commercial roles before dedicating himself fully to astrological pursuits. His early exposure to Theosophy significantly influenced his approach, leading him to interpret astrology not merely as a tool for fortune-telling but as a profound system for character analysis and spiritual development. In 1890, Leo founded The Astrologer's Magazine , later renamed Modern Astrology , which became a crucial platform for disseminating astrological knowledge. Through this publication and his prolific writing, he systematized astrological techniques and made them accessible to a broader public. Key works like Astrology for All (1903), Esoteric Astrology (1913), and The Art of Synthesis (1912) transformed the understanding and practice of astrology, emphasizing its psychological and spiritual dimensions.
