This volume presents a curated collection of ecstatic hymns traditionally attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, the archetypal Gnostic revealer rather than a historical figure. These poetic texts serve as spiritual vehicles, guiding the practitioner through the labyrinth of consciousness to achieve Gnosis—the direct, experiential knowledge of the divine. The work explores the intersection of mind, body, and spirit, offering verses that transcend mere theology to become active instruments of transformation. Readers will find here not just philosophy, but the resonant songs of ascent, detailing the ecstatic journey from material bondage to spiritual liberation within the Hermetic tradition.

⭐ Reader reviews
Reader rating
Mead’s volume offers a compelling entry into Hermetic Gnosticism through poetic hymns rather than dry doctrine. It succeeds in presenting active instruments of transformation for the dedicated seeker. However, this book does not suit readers preferring historical analysis or literal interpretations of mythological figures like Hermes Trismegistus. Those seeking systematic theology or empirical evidence will likely find the ecstatic, non-linear nature of these texts frustrating. It is best approached as a spiritual practice tool rather than an academic study, requiring an openness to esoteric symbolism and the archetypal rather than the historical.
