Fun Fact

Ballesta González delivers a visually stunning deck that successfully merges classical tarot structure with contemporary fantasy art. The Moebius-inspired illustrations are breathtaking, offering a fresh perspective on familiar archetypes. While the thematic focus on animal spirits may appeal less to those preferring rigid traditionalism, it enriches the deck for eco-spiritual practitioners. It stands as a beautiful, if niche, addition to any collection seeking artistic innovation and nature-based mysticism.

📝 Description: White Numen: A Sacred Animal Tarot Deck: A 78-Card Tarot Deck with Guidebook (Co-Edition)

White Numen: A Sacred Animal Tarot Deck is a seventy-eight-card deck paired with a fifty-six-page guidebook. Created by artist Alba Ballesta González, also known as Albabg, the collection blends classical tarot imagery with sacred animal spirits called Numen. Drawing inspiration from ancient rituals, stories of sacred animal spirits, and a fantasy art style influenced by the comic creator Moebius, the deck connects human experience to the natural world and the spiritual realm. Most card illustrations highlight powerful women, including Death draped in a black cloak riding a white horse, the Queen of Pentacles sitting among soft greenery, and the Sun striding across a desert landscape. The set comes from publisher Sterling Ethos. Albabg qualifies as the sole illustrator and creator behind this release, shaping its combination of otherworldly spirit animal motifs and modern artistic sensibilities. This deck suits readers who want tarot cards featuring animal spirit themes, comic-inspired fantasy illustrations, and prominent female figures. It does not suit readers looking for traditional historical tarot decks that lack animal spirit imagery or modern fantasy aesthetics.

Occult literature desk

White Numen stands out for its bold artistic direction, successfully merging ancient animism with modern esoteric practice through stunning visuals. The inclusion of a comprehensive guidebook ensures accessibility for newcomers to this specific stylistic approach. However, collectors preferring traditional Rider-Waite-Smith iconography or readers uncomfortable with highly stylized, fantasy-heavy interpretations may find the departure from convention disorienting. The deck’s strong emphasis on 'Numen' and animal spirits creates a niche appeal that might not resonate with those seeking historical continuity over aesthetic innovation.

Worth the read

A friend in my study group recommended this one. It reads better in small doses — a chapter at a time with notes. Every rereading turns up something I missed.

Excellent find

Bought this as a gift for my sister and ended up ordering a second copy for myself. The language takes some getting used to, but it becomes part of the charm. Every rereading turns up something I missed. Recommended if you're ready to do the work.
