⭐ Reader reviews
Reader rating
Long-time student of the esoteric here. It reads better in small doses — a chapter at a time with notes. Deserves a place on any esoteric bookshelf.
I've read excerpts online before, but having the full text is different. Challenging in places, but never needlessly obscure. Shipping was quick too.
Honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm impressed. There's real depth here that reveals itself on a second reading. The material is presented clearly and the structure makes it easy to revisit key passages.
I keep coming back to this one. Plenty of passages worth underlining; my copy is already full of margin notes. It pairs well with more modern commentaries on the same tradition. Five stars from me.
Honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm impressed. The historical context alone makes it worth the price.
Myers delivers a groundbreaking anthology that rigorously challenges the accepted Wiccan narrative of oral tradition. By assembling rare texts, he reveals a rich literary heritage predating modern witchcraft. However, readers seeking concise, practical ritual instructions or simplified dogma will find this dense academic approach unsuitable. It demands patience and a willingness to engage with complex historical analysis rather than immediate spiritual application. This is not for the casual enthusiast looking for quick inspiration but for those ready to delve into the foundational writings that truly shaped the movement’s identity and philosophical core through rigorous scholarly curation.
