Time for Magic: A Shamanarchist's Guide to the Wheel of the Year

This is a visually stunning and intellectually provocative collection that successfully marries the jagged edges of punk art with the cyclical harmony of Paganism. However, it may not suit readers seeking traditional, dogmatic Druidic instruction or those who prefer conventional religious texts without artistic disruption. The focus on Jamie Reid’s specific aesthetic means the spiritual content is filtered through a highly particular, rebellious viewpoint. While the insights from Philip Carr-Gomm provide grounding, the primary draw is the visual and conceptual clash of ideologies. It is best for those open to unconventional syntheses who enjoy analyzing how art shapes spiritual experience rather than just learning ritual procedures.

Readers who appreciate the raw energy of punk aesthetics will find a profound new dimension in this work, as it reveals how rebellious creativity can serve sacred purposes. Those interested in the Wheel of the Year will gain fresh perspective through the lens of anarchy and agit-prop, seeing seasonal observances not just as ritual but as radical acts. It appeals to art lovers who want to see Jamie Reid’s iconic imagery reinterpreted with spiritual depth, and to Druids seeking inspiration from unconventional sources. This book offers a stimulating dialogue between counter-culture rebellion and ancient wisdom, providing a unique framework for understanding how personal creative spirit can align with natural cycles in both political and spiritual realms.

Punk's Pagan Heartbeat

Cyclical Wisdom Reimagined

The book structures Reid's extensive artwork around the eight seasonal festivals—solstices, equinoxes, and cross-quarter days—illuminating how these ancient markers of time influenced his creative process. Discover how Reid's later work, particularly his allotment rituals, brought these pagan observances into a contemporary, intensely personal artistic practice.

Art as Subversive Ritual

Witness how Reid’s art, from its Situationist roots to his legendary Sex Pistols graphics, consistently challenged norms. This compilation showcases his unwavering commitment to using visual language for social commentary, revealing how even his seemingly disparate artistic phases were united by a desire to disrupt, provoke, and inspire change through potent imagery.
