Someone Has to Set a Bad Example: An Anne Taintor Collection Taintor, Anne
A curated collection of witty vintage illustrations by Anne Taintor.
This volume presents over one hundred fifty of Anne Taintor’s most humorous drawings. The artist combines sharp social commentary with a distinct vintage aesthetic to explore the realities of modern life. Her work addresses the complexities of dating, marriage, motherhood, friendship, and money. Each image delivers a blunt observation that resonates with readers who appreciate dry wit and straightforward honesty. The book is organized as a collection rather than a narrative. Readers will find these illustrations arranged to highlight Taintor’s keen eye for human behavior. The publisher Chronicle Books released this compilation in March 2012. It spans one hundred seventy-nine pages of visual humor. The ISBN for this specific edition is 9781452103099. This collection suits those who enjoy satirical art and vintage design. It appeals to individuals who value wit over sentimentality in their reading material. People seeking deep spiritual guidance or serious occult theory will find little here. The content remains firmly rooted in social satire rather than mystical practice. Anne Taintor qualifies as a notable illustrator known for her candid take on daily struggles. Her work offers a mirror to the absurdities of relationships and finance without offering solutions.
Published by Chronicle Books in 2012, this collection reflects early twenty-first century interest in retro aesthetics mixed with modern cynicism. It sits within the broader tradition of American satirical illustration that critiques domestic life.

Exactly what I was looking for. Not a light read, but far more accessible than I feared. If you're drawn to this subject, don't hesitate.
Long-time student of the esoteric here. It's become a regular reference in my practice. A keeper.
Exactly what I was looking for. Not a light read, but far more accessible than I feared. The historical context alone makes it worth the price.
I keep coming back to this one. Some chapters demand a slow, careful read, and that's exactly the point. The font runs small in the appendices.
As someone who reads a lot in this field, I can be picky. The text itself is dense but rewarding — you get out what you put in. It pairs well with more modern commentaries on the same tradition. My only quibble is the cover feels thinner than expected.
