Ordered this after seeing it referenced in another book I was studying. You can tell why this work has endured. The typesetting is comfortable for study, with good margins for notes. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Still worth having on the shelf.
Grabbed this during a weekend order. Plenty of passages worth underlining; my copy is already full of margin notes. The text itself is dense but rewarding — you get out what you put in. One of my better finds this year.
Arrived faster than expected and well packaged. It connects ideas I'd only seen treated separately elsewhere. The symbolism is layered and generous to patient readers. Shipping was quick too.
Brannen offers a lush exploration of flora that feels both ancient and urgently modern. The thirty-nine profiles provide substantial depth, particularly the analysis of dangerous plants like aconite alongside common ones like lavender. However, readers seeking purely scientific botanical data or those who prefer rigid, traditional Wiccan coven structures may find the focus on 'living spirit magic' too abstract or individualistic. It is not suited for skeptics of animism or those looking for basic beginner spells without spiritual context. Instead, it serves as a dedicated companion for serious practitioners ready to engage with sentient energies in their magical work.
