Finally got around to ordering this. It reads better in small doses — a chapter at a time with notes. The material is presented clearly and the structure makes it easy to revisit key passages. Solid, if not essential.
Was skeptical at first. I appreciated how the argument builds steadily from first principles. The ideas are old but land with surprising force today. My only quibble is the cover feels thinner than expected. Good, with the caveats above.
Smith delivers a robust masterclass in candle work, distinguished by its holistic integration of diverse esoteric tools rather than isolated recipes. The focus on the link between internal belief and external result is particularly strong, offering technical precision alongside spiritual depth. However, readers seeking purely aesthetic or decorative candle crafts may find this too doctrinal or heavy with metaphysical theory. It is also less suitable for those who prefer quick, superficial fixes over the deep psychological work required to align mindset with intention. Ultimately, it is a serious guide for dedicated practitioners willing to engage with the shadowed corners of their own craft.
