First purchase from this shop. Some sections stopped me cold in the best way. Already eyeing my next order.
My third book from this store and this one might be the best. There's real depth here that reveals itself on a second reading. Some sections stopped me cold in the best way. Some archaic spellings slow things down. Happy enough with the purchase.
Took a chance on this and glad I did. It rewards patience more than any book I've bought this year. Some chapters demand a slow, careful read, and that's exactly the point. Already eyeing my next order.
Long-time student of the esoteric here. There's real depth here that reveals itself on a second reading. It pairs well with more modern commentaries on the same tradition.
This edition finally does the material justice. The symbolism is layered and generous to patient readers. A text you study rather than simply read. One of my better finds this year.
This exceeded my expectations. The language takes some getting used to, but it becomes part of the charm. Five stars from me.
Cunningham’s work stands as a definitive reference for natural magicians, meticulously detailing botanicals with practical guidance on their magical, medicinal, and culinary uses. The inclusion of vivid illustrations aids accurate identification, while notes on planetary rulerships add necessary esoteric depth. However, it is not suited for those seeking purely academic botanical science or historical analysis devoid of magical intent. Skeptics of occult practices may find the content irrelevant, as the text assumes a belief in energetic properties of plants. It also lacks extensive historical provenance for each entry, focusing instead on immediate practical application. Readers looking for dry, scientific classification will be disappointed by its folkloric approach. Ultimately, it is a robust tool for active practitioners rather than a scholarly critique of herbal history.

Visual accuracy is paramount in safe magical practice. The guide provides clear, detailed illustrations to distinguish between look-alikes, preventing dangerous errors. This focus on physical identification ensures that the forager or gardener can confidently harvest the correct species, maintaining the integrity and safety of their herbal preparations and ritual ingredients.
Folklore Integration
Cunningham weaves historical folklore with contemporary spellwork, treating each plant as a repository of ancestral wisdom.
