Why this book is worth reading
This book is a treasure for practitioners who feel excluded by the elitism of high magic or expensive tarot decks. It empowers readers to tap into profound spiritual insight using only humble, accessible items like playing cards and blue water found in their own homes. Came across this title in a footnote and had to track it down. It's become a regular reference in my practice. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
Grabbed this during a weekend order. Plenty of passages worth underlining; my copy is already full of margin notes. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted.
Casas delivers a compelling guide that democratizes divination by focusing on household items rather than costly tools. The text successfully bridges folk history with practical instruction, offering clear steps for card spreads and bone throwing. However, this book does not suit those seeking complex ceremonial magic or rigid academic folklore analysis; it is strictly a practical manual rooted in specific cultural traditions. Readers looking for generic, decontextualized tarot meanings will find little here. It is best appreciated by those willing to engage with the cultural weight of conjure practices and desire accessible, grounded methods for spiritual guidance without the barrier of financial expense.
