As someone who reads a lot in this field, I can be picky. Every rereading turns up something I missed. I found myself reading passages aloud just to sit with them. Delivery took a bit longer than quoted. Good, with the caveats above.
Came across this title in a footnote and had to track it down. The print is clean and easy on the eyes for long sessions. The text itself is dense but rewarding — you get out what you put in. Would buy from this store again.
Added this to my reference shelf. There's real depth here that reveals itself on a second reading. A few pages arrived with light corner wear, though nothing serious. Recommended with reservations.
Gilchrist’s approach offers a refreshing, minimalist perspective that cuts through the excessive symbolism often found in modern tarot literature. The text successfully invites readers to bypass cluttered interpretations and meet the unadulterated force of the Marseille trumps. However, this deliberate lack of detailed iconographic analysis may frustrate those who rely on extensive correspondences or esoteric systems for their practice. It is not suitable for beginners needing step-by-step instructional guidance or readers who prefer rich, complex narrative frameworks over intuitive abstraction. The work demands a willingness to engage with ambiguity and personal intuition rather than offering concrete, dogmatic answers. While it excels in fostering a direct spiritual connection, its streamlined nature might feel too sparse for those accustomed to dense, scholarly exegesis of tarot symbolism.
