📝 Description: Buckland's Book of Gypsy Magic: Travelers' Stories, Spells, & Healings

Raymond Buckland draws on family oral histories and Romani tradition in this 216-page volume published by Weiser Books. His grandfather was the first in his family to settle in a permanent home, and Buckland grew up hearing his relatives share stories of road life, fortune telling, and card reading. Known as The Father of American Wicca and the author of over fifty books, Buckland arranges this work into five distinct sections plus an afterword and glossary. Part I covers history, detailing Travelers on the Move and Witches in the Hedges. Part II addresses love magic alongside family practices for the traveling home. Part III focuses on physical healings, detailing hands-on remedies and treatments for head, neck, chest, and stomach ailments. Part IV introduces divinatory arts, including Dukkering, card reading, palmistry, and tea leaf interpretation. Part V examines protective tools, birth, death, amulets, and charms. This text suits readers seeking practical spells, folk healings, protection charms, and specific methods like the Gypsy Seven tarot spread. Folklorists and history enthusiasts will appreciate the inclusion of campfire tales involving werewolves, vampires, and historical persecution. It is less suitable for readers who want an academic historical study or those uninterested in practical spellcraft.
