This encyclopedia stands as a formidable barrier against historical distortion in occult studies. Greer successfully merges academic rigor with insider knowledge, offering a corrected record that is vital for serious students. However, it does not suit casual browsers or those seeking quick, simplified answers to complex esoteric questions. The density of information and the focus on dismantling myths may feel overwhelming to readers who prefer narrative-driven histories over reference-style analysis. It is best reserved for those committed to understanding the precise lineage of magic and alchemy through a lens of verified accuracy rather than romanticized legend.
