Founded upon the revolutionary premise that High Magick can be distilled to a few powerful and efficient steps, Louis T. Culling's original edition of this classic magick book broke all the rules. Llewellyn is proud to present an updated and expanded edition of this pioneering work. The G∴B∴ G∴, or "Great Brotherhood of God," was a magickal order founded by acclaimed magician Frater Genesthai. Louis T. Culling, one of the initial members of the G∴B∴ G∴. in California, was instructed by Genesthai to reveal the Order's magickal curriculum when the time was right. Carl Llewellyn Weschcke, publisher of Culling's original edition of this book, offers illuminating commentary, definitions, and discussion points to render these profound magickal philosophies and practices even more accessible and relevant for contemporary magickal practice. This new edition is also an interesting philosophical commentary, answering a number of questions about historical occult orders and figures like Aleister Crowley. The techniques taught in this curriculum include: Dream Recall and Interpretation Functioning in the Borderland Finding One's True Magickal Identity The Retirement Ritual The Invocation of Thoth Ritual Divination Imprinting the I Ching on the Body The Three Degrees of Sex Magick Thelema and the Magickal Will Invocation of Human Quality The Rite of Transubstantiation Conversations with a God Magickal Offspring The Familiar The Great Lunar Trances

Occult literature desk

Culling’s text serves as a potent distillation of high magick, appealing primarily to those who value efficiency and direct results over ornate tradition. The streamlined rituals and clear initiatory structure make it a valuable resource for intermediate practitioners looking to solidify their foundation. However, this book is NOT suited for beginners seeking gentle introductions or readers who prefer the elaborate, symbolic richness of classical ceremonial orders. Those expecting extensive historical documentation or theoretical debates will be disappointed by its focus on practical application. The commentary aids understanding but does not replace the need for prior basic knowledge. It is a specialized tool for dedicated practitioners willing to engage with potentially obscure philosophies. While rigorous, it may feel too dry or demanding for casual interest seekers or those preferring more whimsical, intuitive approaches to magic.

Essential reading

First purchase from this shop. The typesetting is comfortable for study, with good margins for notes. The ideas are old but land with surprising force today. Glad I finally picked this up.

Exactly as described

My book club chose this last month. The language takes some getting used to, but it becomes part of the charm. It rewards patience more than any book I've bought this year. Already eyeing my next order.

Almost perfect

Not my usual area but wanted to branch out. I found myself reading passages aloud just to sit with them. It assumes more background than a beginner might have. Still worth having on the shelf.

Needed this for my research. The symbolism is layered and generous to patient readers. My only quibble is the cover feels thinner than expected. Still worth having on the shelf.
