About the author
Richard Kaczynski is an American scholar best known for Perdurabo: The Life of Aleister Crowley, a widely cited biography, published by North Atlantic Books, that draws on research to examine Crowley's life alongside the history of the occult, sexuality, and Eastern religion in his circle. He also writes on ritual magic and the psychology behind it, as in Mind Over Magick: The Psychology of Ritual Magick, which brings peer-reviewed psychology and cognitive neuroscience, including brain-imaging research, to bear on mystical states and the experience of being in the zone reported by practitioners of magical ritual and by athletes and performers. Kaczynski's writing sits between scholarly biography and applied occult history, useful to readers with a serious interest in Thelema, Crowley studies, or the psychological study of ritual practice rather than instructional magic.
