About the author
Michael P Berman is the author of a series of folklore books from Moon Books focused on the Caucasus and surrounding regions, including Shamanic Journeys Through the Caucasus (2009), Shamanic Journeys Through Daghestan (2010), Georgia Through Its Folktales (2010), Georgia through Earth, Fire, Air and Water (2012), and the related Shamanic Journeys, Shamanic Stories (2011), alongside A Bridge to the Other Side: Death in the Folklore Tradition (2012). The books collect and discuss traditional folktales from Georgia, Daghestan, and the wider Caucasus, using them to explore regional beliefs about shamanic trance, journeying, and death. They are presented as folklore studies with translated and introduced tales rather than instructional guides to shamanic practice, aimed at readers interested in Caucasus ethnography and comparative folklore. No further biographical information is given in the listing.
