The Kybalion: which edition to buy

How to choose

If you simply want the text, any complete reprint will do: the seven Hermetic principles read the same in the cheapest paperback as in the most expensive hardcover. Look at the page count: a very low count usually means small type packed onto large pages, which is harder on the eyes.

For study, choose an edition with a real introduction. Tarcher's The Kybalion: The Definitive Edition (2011) adds an introduction by Philip Deslippe on the book's origins in American New Thought, which most reprints never mention.

For a gift or a copy that will last, take a hardcover; Tarcher's Centenary Edition (2018) is the best-known one.

Combined volumes that pair The Kybalion with the Emerald Tablet or other texts are listed separately on the site; this page compares editions of The Kybalion alone.
