Been hunting for a decent copy of this text for ages. You can tell why this work has endured. A keeper.
Honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm impressed. Challenging in places, but never needlessly obscure. It pairs well with more modern commentaries on the same tradition. If you're drawn to this subject, don't hesitate.
Came across this title in a footnote and had to track it down. Every rereading turns up something I missed. Solid binding, decent paper — holds up to heavy use. My only quibble is the cover feels thinner than expected. Good, with the caveats above.
My book club chose this last month. I appreciated how the argument builds steadily from first principles. Some sections stopped me cold in the best way.
Leighly delivers a clear, no-nonsense guide to metaphysical self-mastery, stripping away complex jargon for direct application. The strength lies in its emphasis on gratitude and right action as tangible levers of change. However, it does not suit those seeking rigorous academic theology or skeptical empirical evidence; it operates entirely within a faith-based metaphysical framework. Readers expecting scientific proof may find the assertions unconvincing without spiritual buy-in. It also lacks depth for advanced occultists familiar with these core tenets. Best for beginners in New Thought who need encouragement to believe in their own creative power, this work is a solid foundational text rather than a groundbreaking theoretical treatise.
