Spirits of the Border: The History and Mystery of El Paso Del Norte

Been hunting for a decent copy of this text for ages. Some sections stopped me cold in the best way. Definitely recommend.

This exceeded my expectations. It connects ideas I'd only seen treated separately elsewhere. The typesetting is comfortable for study, with good margins for notes. Some archaic spellings slow things down. Solid, if not essential.

I keep coming back to this one. Solid binding, decent paper — holds up to heavy use. Challenging in places, but never needlessly obscure. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.

While slotted under occult philosophy, the publisher's provided material remains notably sparse regarding specific historical details or individual accounts. As a result, the volume leans heavily into broad regional mystery, focusing on the tone of borderland lore and spiritual undercurrents rather than dense metaphysical theory or formal academic history. It is ideal for casual readers drawn to Southwestern legends, regional ghost lore, and the supernatural atmosphere of El Paso's past. However, it will not suit readers seeking rigorous scholarly research, technical magical treatises, or deep textual analysis of classical philosophy. Expect an accessible, atmospheric survey of local mystery rather than a dense esoteric study.
