Needed this for my research. The typesetting is comfortable for study, with good margins for notes. Challenging in places, but never needlessly obscure. If you're drawn to this subject, don't hesitate.
Long-time student of the esoteric here. I appreciated how the argument builds steadily from first principles. You can tell why this work has endured. It assumes more background than a beginner might have.
I collect works on this subject and this is a worthy addition. It reads better in small doses — a chapter at a time with notes. It rewards patience more than any book I've bought this year. A few pages arrived with light corner wear, though nothing serious. Good, with the caveats above.
A friend in my study group recommended this one. Some chapters demand a slow, careful read, and that's exactly the point. Some sections stopped me cold in the best way. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
This edition finally does the material justice. It pairs well with more modern commentaries on the same tradition. It assumes more background than a beginner might have. Recommended with reservations.
