My third book from this store and this one might be the best. It connects ideas I'd only seen treated separately elsewhere. Some archaic spellings slow things down. Good, with the caveats above.
This edition finally does the material justice. The ideas are old but land with surprising force today. It's become a regular reference in my practice. Still worth having on the shelf.
My book club chose this last month. The typesetting is comfortable for study, with good margins for notes. Happy enough with the purchase.
Acorah delivers a candid exploration of malevolent forces, appealing to enthusiasts of spiritualism who crave authenticity over polished fiction. The text effectively conveys the danger and unpredictability of his investigations, making it a valuable resource for understanding the darker aspects of mediumship. However, readers seeking lighthearted paranormal entertainment or those skeptical of psychic claims may find the tone too intense or unconvincing. It is not suited for individuals who prefer scientific debunking over personal testimony. The book succeeds as a memoir but requires an open mind regarding its esoteric assertions to fully appreciate the narrative's emotional weight and cautionary purpose.

The Burden of Mediumship
Acorah explores the psychological weight of being a conduit for the dead. He describes how constant exposure to traumatic spirits affects his own mental state, blurring the line between professional duty and personal trauma, and questioning whether the gift is truly a blessing or a curse.
Demonic Possession Realities
The text delves into cases of genuine demonic influence rather than simple residual hauntings. Acorah provides accounts of entities that exhibit intelligence and malice, attempting to harm the living or manipulate the medium, highlighting the distinct and dangerous nature of these specific spiritual invasions.
Ancient Malevolence
Beyond modern hauntings, the author investigates spirits rooted in ancient history, particularly Egyptian entities. He argues that some ghosts are not trapped souls but predatory forces that have existed for millennia, seeking to extend their influence into the present day through specific locations and mediums.
