Perfect companion for my morning study sessions. The language takes some getting used to, but it becomes part of the charm. Challenging in places, but never needlessly obscure. The font runs small in the appendices. Solid, if not essential.
I keep coming back to this one. Every rereading turns up something I missed. It connects ideas I'd only seen treated separately elsewhere. Definitely recommend.
Been hunting for a decent copy of this text for ages. It's become a regular reference in my practice. I appreciated how the argument builds steadily from first principles. My only regret is not ordering it sooner.
My third book from this store and this one might be the best. A text you study rather than simply read.
This anthology successfully captures the eerie spirit of Bristol through well-woven tales of local legend. However, readers seeking complex literary prose or rigorous historical documentation may find it lacking in depth. It is best suited for casual enthusiasts of ghost stories who prefer accessible narratives over academic analysis. The balance of terror and humor works well for light reading but might disappoint those expecting serious scholarly work or intense psychological horror. Ultimately, it is a charming collection for fans of regional folklore, though its simplicity may limit its appeal to more demanding readers looking for substantial intellectual challenge.
