Cosmologies
A scholarly examination of historical and anthropological views on the relationship between humans and the cosmos.
This volume investigates the conceptual divide between modern scientific cosmology and traditional worldviews where the universe is internal. It utilizes history and anthropology to trace how people from ancient eras connected their personal lives to the larger cosmic order. The text avoids prescriptive advice, focusing instead on descriptive analysis of past belief systems. It appeals to students of religion and history who wish to understand the intellectual foundations of esoteric traditions. The work is organized to show continuity and change in these ideas over time.
Published in 2016 by Sophia Centre Press, this book sits at the intersection of academic history and esoteric studies. It addresses how traditional societies understood the cosmos as permeating everything, contrasting with modern scientific views that place it externally. The work draws on historical and anthropological sources to explore these concepts from the ancient world to the present day.

Needed this for my research. I appreciated how the argument builds steadily from first principles. The language takes some getting used to, but it becomes part of the charm. I'd have loved an index, but that's on the original text. Still worth having on the shelf.
I collect works on this subject and this is a worthy addition. It pairs well with more modern commentaries on the same tradition. A few pages arrived with light corner wear, though nothing serious. Happy enough with the purchase.
I collect works on this subject and this is a worthy addition. A text you study rather than simply read. The symbolism is layered and generous to patient readers. One of my better finds this year.
As someone who reads a lot in this field, I can be picky. Some chapters demand a slow, careful read, and that's exactly the point. The text itself is dense but rewarding — you get out what you put in.
I keep coming back to this one. The print is clean and easy on the eyes for long sessions. You can tell why this work has endured. Well worth it.
