About the author
Shlomo Sela is a scholar of medieval Jewish thought known for his critical editions and translations of the astrological writings of Abraham Ibn Ezra, the twelfth-century Spanish-Hebrew poet and polymath. His three-volume project with Brill presents parallel Hebrew-English critical editions of Ibn Ezra's astrological corpus: Abraham Ibn Ezra on Nativities and Continuous Horoscopy (2013), covering the doctrine of nativities and continuous horoscopy; Abraham Ibn Ezra on Elections, Interrogations, and Medical Astrology (2011), covering seven treatises on elections, interrogations, and the book of the luminaries; and The Book of the World (2009), the first critical edition of Ibn Ezra's twin treatises on astrological history. Each volume combines the original Hebrew text with English translation and scholarly commentary. Sela's work is aimed at scholars and advanced readers of medieval Jewish intellectual history and the history of astrology, rather than a general or practicing-astrology audience.
