About the author
Faith L. Justice is the author of a series of historical novels centered on the women of the Theodosian dynasty of the late Roman and early Byzantine empire, published by Raggedy Moon Books. The series includes Dawn Empress (2020), following the child-empress Pulcheria; Becoming the Twilight Empress (2024), a novella built around Galla Placidia in early fifth-century Ravenna; and Rebel Empress (2024), which follows Athenais, later Empress Aelia Eudocia, from impoverished orphan to imperial consort in Constantinople. A related novel, Selene of Alexandria (2020), is set in the same period and follows a young Christian woman training as a physician against the backdrop of Hypatia's Alexandria. Across the series, Justice works from documented figures and events in the fourth and fifth centuries, using court intrigue, religious conflict, and the constrained position of imperial women as recurring material. The books are aimed at readers of historical fiction with an interest in the late Roman and early Byzantine world.
