Paul Adams delivers a charming compilation of spectral anecdotes that serves as a delightful companion to any visit to St. Albans. The strength lies in its narrative flow, connecting historical events like Roman patrols and saintly martyrs to reported hauntings with ease. However, readers seeking rigorous academic citations, critical analysis of paranormal methodology, or skeptical debunking will likely find this work lacking. It is a celebration of mystery, not an investigation into its validity. Those who prefer hard science over atmospheric storytelling may feel the content is too whimsical or ungrounded. It suits those who want to believe in the magic of place rather than those who demand empirical proof for every reported echo.
