About the author
Tomás Prower is an American author who has worked in the funeral industry and in cross-cultural affairs, drawing on that background in his multicultural surveys of spirituality published by Llewellyn. Morbid Magic: Death Spirituality and Culture from Around the World (2019) surveys death-related beliefs and practices across cultures from the perspective of someone working inside the funeral trade. La Santa Muerte: Unearthing the Magic & Mysticism of Death examines the folk saint of death venerated largely in Mexican and Mexican-American communities, written by a practitioner rather than an outside observer. Queer Magic: LGBT+ Spirituality and Culture from Around the World looks at queer presence within historical and contemporary spiritual traditions, and Warrior Magic: Justice, Spirituality and Culture from Around the World (2022) considers the role of magic in resistance and conflict. Prower's books consistently combine personal experience with cross-cultural research.
