About the author
Josephine McCarthy is a British magical practitioner and author known for creating the Quareia training system, a free, extensive course in Western esoteric magic published in multiple print volumes including Quareia Apprentice and Quareia Initiate. Her other books extend into related areas of practice: The Book of Gates offers a magical translation and interpretation of an Ancient Egyptian funerary text, Magic of the North Gate examines land-based and ancestral magic tied to place and stone, and Tarot Skills for the 21st Century approaches tarot as a tool for divination rather than psychological self-exploration. McCarthy writes as a practicing adept rather than an academic, and her books combine practical exercises with a magical framework built up over decades of teaching. The Quareia course in particular is structured as a multi-year curriculum moving from apprentice through adept level. Her audience is readers with serious, sustained interest in ceremonial and land-based magical practice rather than casual readers of esoterica.
