About the author
Theodore Sturgeon (1918-1985) was an American science fiction and fantasy writer widely regarded as one of the finest short story writers the genre produced, admired for prose style and emotional depth uncommon in the pulp magazines where he first published. He won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards and is best remembered for the novel More Than Human and for coining what became known as Sturgeon's Law. The books listed here, Killdozer! and The Perfect Host, are volumes three and five of North Atlantic Books' ongoing series collecting his complete short fiction, each gathering roughly fifteen stories along with previously unpublished material. Killdozer! includes tales of hive minds and a possessed bulldozer, while The Perfect Host offers a broader sampling of what is often called his greatest work. Together the series serves readers seeking Sturgeon's full body of short fiction rather than a single-volume best-of collection.
