About the author
Charles A. Stansfield, Jr. is the author of a long-running series of regional ghost-story collections published mainly by Globe Pequot and Stackpole Books, including Haunted Maine, Haunted Jersey Shore, Haunted Arizona, Haunted Ohio, Haunted Minnesota, and Haunted Colorado. Each volume gathers local legends, reported hauntings, and strange regional phenomena tied to specific landmarks, from historic hotels and battlefields to state parks and small towns, presenting them as folklore and oral tradition rather than investigated case studies. The books follow a consistent format across states, mixing ghost stories with local history and geography, and are aimed at readers interested in regional travel, folklore, and light paranormal reading rather than parapsychological research. Stansfield's catalogue spans multiple U.S. regions, from New England through the Rocky Mountains and the Southwest, making his Haunted series one of the more extensive state-by-state collections of American ghost lore in the catalogue.
