About the author
Ross Heaven is described by his publisher, Moon Books, as a psychologist and former pharmaceutical industry consultant who turned to shamanic apprenticeship in South America. His output includes the Shamanic Plant Medicine series, covering individual entheogenic plants such as in Shamanic Plant Medicine - Magic Mushrooms: The Holy Children and Shamanic Plant Medicine - San Pedro: The Gateway to Wisdom, each pairing ethnobotanical background with the plant's traditional shamanic use. Drinking the Four Winds: A Shamanic Love Story recounts his own apprenticeship with San Pedro in Peru, while Medicine for the Soul: The Complete Book of Shamanic Healing is a broader course covering shamanic healing techniques including soul retrieval and spirit extraction, and The Way of the Lover connects Sufi poetry, particularly Rumi, to shamanic and medicine-wheel teachings. Across the series the register is instructional and experiential, addressed to readers already interested in shamanic practice and plant-based spiritual work rather than to a general audience.
