About the author
Richard Ingalese was an American lawyer and occult lecturer active in the New Thought movement at the turn of the twentieth century. His best-known work, The History and Power of Mind, first published in 1902, collects lectures on occultism, self-control, meditation, and what he termed the divinity of mind, and it remains in print through several editions listed here, including reissues from Legare Street Press, Lulu.com, Literary Licensing, and Cosimo Classics. The book reflects the New Thought era's blending of mental-therapeutics ideas with occult philosophy, addressing consciousness, will, and the mind's supposed influence over circumstance. Ingalese wrote for a general audience seeking accessible occult instruction rather than for an academic readership, and his lectures are best read as a period document of early twentieth-century New Thought and occult teaching rather than as contemporary psychology.
