About the author
Ophiel is the pen name under which two Weiser Books titles on practical occultism were published: The Art and Practice of Astral Projection and The Art and Practice of Caballa Magic. The astral projection book lays out a step-by-step method for entering and functioning in what the author calls the astral plane and returning with memory of the experience intact. The Caballa Magic volume presents a practical approach to working with the Tree of Life, positioned as filling a gap left by more theoretical writers such as Dion Fortune, who wrote about the Caballa without detailing practice. Both books are instructional rather than historical or scholarly, written in a direct, exercise-based style aimed at readers who want to attempt these practices themselves rather than read about their theory or history. They belong to the older generation of twentieth-century Western esoteric how-to manuals still kept in print by Weiser.
