About the author
Jesse Hong Xiong is the author of Outline of Parapsychology, published by University Press of America in an original 2008 edition and a revised 2009 edition. The book sets out what it calls a systematic parapsychology, attempting to construct a coherent framework and classification system for the field as a whole rather than surveying individual case studies. It argues that parapsychology rests on a different philosophical foundation than either mainstream science or established religion, and works through that distinction as a way of justifying parapsychology's standing as its own area of study. Published by an academic press, the book is written for readers with a serious, structural interest in how parapsychology might be organized as a discipline, rather than for a popular audience seeking anecdotes or practical technique. It is Xiong's sole title in this catalogue, carried across its original and revised editions.
