About the author
Jacques Vallee is a French-American computer scientist and longtime UFO researcher whose work helped shape the study of the phenomenon beyond simple extraterrestrial explanations. His 1969 book Passport to Magonia: From Folklore to Flying Saucers argued for continuity between UFO reports and older folklore about fairies and other otherworldly beings, and Messengers of Deception examined UFO-linked cults and claims of psychological manipulation. Dimensions: A Casebook of Alien Contact revisited the historical record behind abduction reports, while Trinity: The Best-Kept Secret investigated an alleged 1945 UFO crash retrieval. His multi-volume Forbidden Science publishes the field journals he has kept since the 1950s, with Scattered Castles and Final Report covering his more recent decades of research. Vallee is often credited as a partial inspiration for the scientist character in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and his work sits at the intersection of ufology, folklore, and skeptical inquiry.
