About the author
Isha Schwaller de Lubicz (1889-1963) was a French esotericist and writer, associated in her early career with the Symbolist milieu in Paris and later, alongside her husband Rene Schwaller de Lubicz, with the study of sacred science in ancient Egyptian temple architecture at Luxor. Writing as Isha, she is best known for the novel "Her-Bak," which follows a young candidate for initiation through Egyptian temple life and teaching, conveying Egyptian religious and symbolic thought through narrative rather than academic argument. "The Opening of the Way," published by Inner Traditions International in 1995, gathers practical material meant to support the comprehension of these teachings, with an emphasis on meditation and inner silence. "Journey Into the Light" continues the same concern with initiation, staging an encounter between a modern, rational mind and the intelligence she associated with the Mystery traditions.
