About the author
Hugh Milne is a Scottish osteopath, described in his publisher's material as third-generation in that profession, known for his visionary approach to craniosacral work. His book The Heart of Listening, published by North Atlantic Books, was originally issued as a single work and later split into two volumes because of demand for a shorter, more portable edition. Volume 1 is aimed at the general reader and lay practitioner, framing bodywork as a dialogue and collaboration between client and practitioner and stressing the importance of how a session begins. Volume 2, A Visionary Approach to Craniosacral Work, continues this approach in greater depth. Milne's writing sits within body-centered, somatic approaches to healing that treat touch and craniosacral rhythm as central to therapeutic work, addressed to practitioners and students of craniosacral and osteopathic technique rather than a general medical audience.
