About the author
Eileen Caddy (1917-2006) was a British spiritual writer and co-founder, with her husband Peter Caddy and Dorothy Maclean, of the Findhorn Foundation in the north of Scotland, a community that became one of the best-known centres of the New Age movement. Caddy described receiving daily inner guidance that she recorded and later published, and her writing helped establish Findhorn's reputation as a place of spiritual practice and communal living. Flight Into Freedom and Beyond (Findhorn Press, enlarged and updated edition, 2002) is her autobiography, recounting the community's founding and her own spiritual development. God Spoke to Me (Findhorn Press, revised edition, 1992) and Footprints on the Path (Findhorn Press, revised edition, 1991) collect the guidance she said she received, presented as short reflective messages. The Spirit of Findhorn (Findhorn Press, revised edition) gives a further account of the community's history and her role in it. Her books remain widely read within Findhorn's own tradition and the broader literature it influenced.
