About the author
Ashley Molesso is an illustrator and one half of Ash + Chess, the queer- and trans-owned design studio she runs with Chess Needham, known for stationery and tarot work centered on LGBTQ+ representation. Their Queer Tarot: An Inclusive Deck and Guidebook (2022), published by RP Studio, reworks the traditional seventy-eight-card tarot structure with imagery that centers LGBTQ+ identity across the deck. The Queer Animal Oracle (2026) extends the same sensibility into oracle format, pairing animals with LGBTQ+ individuals of varied races, ethnicities, genders and abilities across its cards and guidebook. Both decks are designed as inclusive alternatives within tarot and oracle practice, aimed at readers who want divination tools that reflect queer identity and community rather than the more conventional imagery found in most published decks. Molesso's work sits at the intersection of illustration, design and card-based divination rather than in written esoteric theory.
