About the author
Ardy Sixkiller Clarke is a retired professor of education at Montana State University and a researcher known for documenting accounts of unexplained aerial phenomena and alleged extraterrestrial contact among Native American and Indigenous communities. Her books, including Encounters with Star People, Sky People: Untold Stories of Alien Encounters in Mesoamerica (2014) and Space Age Indians: Their Encounters with the Blue Men, Reptilians, and Other Star People (2019), are built from firsthand interviews she conducted over years of travel across North and Central America. Space Age Indians in particular gathers testimony from experiencers whose lives span the era from the first human spaceflights to the present. Clarke, who has Cherokee heritage, frames these accounts as oral history and ethnography rather than proof of any particular explanation, presenting the testimony largely in the words of the people she interviewed. Her work sits at the intersection of folklore, ufology and Indigenous studies.
