About the author
Adam Rex is an American author and illustrator best known for children's and middle-grade books that combine humor with inventive premises, including The True Meaning of Smekday, which was adapted into the animated film Home. He has written and illustrated numerous picture books and early chapter books, often working across both text and artwork himself. His Gumluck series, including The Story of Gumluck the Wizard and its sequels The Story of Gumluck and the Dragon's Eggs and The Story of Gumluck and the Portrait Thief, follows a bumbling wizard through a lighthearted fantasy world and has been recognised with starred reviews and Kirkus and Chicago Public Library honors. Published by Chronicle Books, the series is aimed at early readers moving into chapter books. Rex is described as a New York Times bestselling author, and his work is generally noted for its comic tone and visual wit rather than for occult or esoteric subject matter.
