About the author
Theresa Emminizer writes nonfiction for young readers on reputedly haunted historic sites, primarily for Gareth Stevens Publishing's Ghostly Guide series. Titles include The Ghostly Guide to the Tower of London, The Ghostly Guide to the White House, The Ghostly Guide to the Queen Mary, The Ghostly Guide to Gettysburg, and The Ghostly Guide to Alcatraz. Each book pairs the documented history of its site, a centuries-old fortress and prison, a former ocean liner, a Civil War battlefield, with accounts of reported paranormal encounters associated with it, presenting the ghost stories as part of the location's folklore rather than verified fact. The format is educational and accessible, aimed at school-age readers interested in history with an added element of the eerie. The consistent structure across the series, pairing a well-known landmark with its ghost lore, makes the books a recognizable introduction to popular hauntings for younger audiences.
