About the author
William L Buhlman writes on out-of-body experience and astral projection. Adventures Beyond the Body, published by HarperOne in 1996, combines an account of his own experiences leaving the body with instructions intended to help readers attempt the practice themselves. His later book, The Secret of the Soul (2001), extends this into a broader argument about consciousness, describing out-of-body states as a route to what he calls full, individual awareness beyond ordinary waking life. Both books are pitched at readers already curious about astral travel rather than newcomers to the subject, offering step-by-step techniques alongside first-person narrative. Buhlman presents himself within the books as an experienced practitioner and teacher of these methods, and his two HarperOne titles remain among the more widely circulated works in the out-of-body-experience literature of the 1990s and early 2000s.
