About the author
Trevor Ravenscroft was a British writer best known for The Spear of Destiny (1982, Weiser Books), a book centered on the Holy Lance said to have pierced the side of Christ and its supposed occult significance, including claims about the spear's role in Adolf Hitler's fascination with esoteric power. The book has been widely read within occult and esoteric circles, though historians have long disputed its factual claims. Ravenscroft followed it with The Cup of Destiny: The Quest for the Grail (1982), which continues his exploration of Grail mythology and the figure of Parzival, addressing questions raised by readers of the earlier book. Both titles combine historical narrative with esoteric interpretation, and Ravenscroft's writing helped popularize a particular strand of twentieth-century occult lore linking medieval relic legends to modern political history.
