About the author
Thorn Mooney is a Gardnerian Wiccan priestess and writer based in North Carolina, known for practical, contemporary guides to Wicca and witchcraft published by Llewellyn Publications. Witches Among Us: Understanding Contemporary Witchcraft and Wicca (2024) is aimed at readers encountering witchcraft through mainstream culture and explains what modern practitioners actually do and believe. The Witch's Path: Advancing Your Craft at Every Level (2021) addresses practitioners at different stages, from overwhelmed beginners to established coven leaders, offering hands-on approaches to moving a practice forward. Traditional Wicca: A Seeker's Guide (2018), her first book, focuses on structured, coven-based, initiatory Wicca as distinct from eclectic forms of the craft. Mooney writes from within the tradition she describes, and her books are used as introductory and intermediate references within contemporary Wiccan communities.
